Preserving the family tradition of Youth Sports with new and improved facilities
Mission Bay Youth Fields host community-based youth sport organizations such as, but not limited to, Mission Bay Little League, Mission Bay Girls Softball and Pacific Youth Soccer League. These organizations are focused on the personal growth and development of our local children through competitive sports. They serve Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, and La Jolla.
The families that play here typically come from the local area and players attend schools such as: PB Elementary, Kate Sessions, PBMS, MBHS, BirdRock, Muirlands, LJHS, and private schools such as All Hallows, Evans, Horizon, etc. Parents enjoy running into neighbors and meeting and making new friends. These youth sporting leagues serve players ranging in age from 4 to 18 years of age.
Updating the Facilities; Maintaining the Tradition of Youth Sports
The current facilities are nearly 50 years old and have been held together with spit and sweat equity for decades. These facilities are badly in need of modern upgrades and improvements.
The Mission Bay Gateway Project intends to design and build all new facilities including new fields, grandstands, fences, snack shack, restrooms, proper storage and "tot lot" playgrounds. All current uses and agreement should be maintained and enhanced by the new facilities. In addition, new construction will allow the facilities to be resized and organized to meet current and future needs properly.
