Camping is a fun and affordable way to experience Mission Bay Park. The Mission Bay Gateway project will expand Camping space and nearby recreational options. It will become a welcoming spot for locals and visitors who want to stay by the bay.

Campland On The Bay: Today

Campland has been a vacation spot for families since 1969. Campland provides RV sites as well as trailer and tent camping facilities for overnight stays on Mission Bay. While hotel room stays on Mission Bay typically can cost $300 a night and more, Campland offers the only lower cost family friendly alternative for overnight stays on Mission Bay. Over 80% of the overnight visitors to Campland live in San Diego. Campland is a facility that is meeting a need for local residents as well as visitors to San Diego.

The property includes swimming pool and Jacuzzis, marina and boat ramp, skateboard park, horseshoe pits, basketball court, watercraft and bicycle rentals, game room, restaurant, market, and laundry facilities. In addition, there is a large focus on programs and activities for children making Campland popular with families.

Campland has not only grown in popularity but it has been a good neighbor to the local community and an asset to the city of San Diego. Friendly management and staff and a welcoming attitude has made the Campland synonymous with safe, wholesome family fun for locals. Campland has also been a friend to Mission Bay and the environment encouraging clean water and restored natural habitat.

Expanding Camping by the Bay

Over the years Campland has outgrown many of its facilities. RVs and camping trailers are larger and the general popularity of this style of recreational vacation experience at a reasonable cost gives reason for Campland to be expanded.

The lease for Campland in Mission Bay Park expired in 2017. They are currently on a lease extension. A relocated and enlarged Campland will continue to provide great vacation and day use opportunities for San Diego residents and tourists alike.
