The Pacific Beach tennis club has been operating for over 50 years. The club is a non profit and funds received are for supervision, maintenance, tennis activities and capital improvements. The club is governed by a 7 member volunteer board. Located adjacent to the Mission Bay Golf Course, the club has 8 well-lit courts, a small clubhouse which offers racquet string services, pro shop, and dressing room. It is a local gem for San Diego Tennis players.

Enhancing Tennis Facilities for the Community

The MBG Project proposes a new design and new facilities including new courts, fences and potentially at least one court with a grandstand. The plan shows 12 courts. Paddle ball (or Pickle Ball) is a fast paced game similar to tennis played on a court 1/4 the size of regular tennis. This game is rapidly growing in popularity. MBG recommends including 8 Pickle Ball courts.

These facilities should be joint-used with visitors of the guest housing facility. Parking is currently inadequate. MBG has identified 375 parking spaces to be shared between the youth fields and adjacent facilities.

All current uses and agreements should be maintained and enhanced by the new facilities. In addition, new construction will allow these facilities to share the reception, lockers and restrooms with the nearby aquatic center. The new restaurant or nearby pool will be nice options to relax after a match.
